Hudson was a baby when my dad died. I had postpartum depression, my spouse made 20k a year and we had to FUNDRAISE that. My high risk pregnancy had cost 30k out of pocket and I was so exhausted I couldn’t see straight.
My business was hanging on by a thread and I wasn’t hanging on at all.
But I remember the day my life changed. It was the day I decided I was gonna stand up and fight for a better life for me and my son. I was sitting in my cold dark basement office, knowing that things could be better and finally realizing that I was the only one who could change it.
I wasn’t gonna wait for someone to save me or hide my head in the sand and wait for the storm to pass. I was being backed in to a corner but I was gonna come out fighting.
Life often sends us stuff we can’t handle; stuff that breaks us and crushes our spirit. But I’ve found in those moments in particular, there’s an invitation through a time portal. There’s an invitation to decide what that experience is going to shape in our lives. Will we shrink back forever? Or will we stand up and take charge or our own reality and future.
Each step was painful but it was purposeful and there’s a joy in purposeful steps, even if you’re walking on hot coals.
And because of that one day (and each day I kept choosing to hang on), 2 years later my life was completely different. 3 years later I lived in a paid off dream house. 4 years later I hit a crazy sales goal. 5 years later my son is in the magical private school I journaled about that first day I decided to make changes and all the reasons why I was gonna fight.
And that ONE choice- changed everything.
Maybe your world feels like it’s on fire. But make that choice to fight for something. You’re the only one that can!
